Egg Weekend

Time to report the "egg"cellent holiday that we had this year. Last Easter, we were visiting some great friends in South Carolina, so we didn't participate in all of the Easter festivities. We were too busy playing at the beach! It was rough!
This year, we spent the entire weekend gearing up for the big day. On Friday night, we had a neighborhood flashlight Easter egg hunt. This was a lot of fun even though it was quite frigid! Between Mom trying to get pictures of Clara Jo, and Clara Jo being fascinated with what was going on around her, she only got a whoppin' 4 eggs! However, she was as happy as can be with her big score!

On Saturday, we went up to Wallsburg to spend time with Eric's family. While we were there, we colored eggs! Little one got into this, as she spilt the red dye all over Grandma Young's kitchen table! What a little helper!

When we woke up on Easter Sunday, someone had had a visit from the Easter Bunny! Clara came down the stairs and spotted her goods right away! It was so fun to see her get into the spirit of it all. So being the loser mom that I am, didn't buy Clara an Easter dress! We went with Easter shoes instead. However, I think she is looking pretty cute as we went to church!

Colorado Candids

A couple of weeks ago, we felt the need to bust out of town! Thus, we took a trip to Colorado to visit my sister and her family! As always... we had a great time, played a lot of games, and ate some good grub! Here are some pictures of our trip!

We enjoyed taking Clara to the park where we played around on the swings, slides, and such! It was such pretty and warm weather.

Neither Eric nor I was festive for St. Patrick's Day in our outfit selection! Have no fear though.... my sister is quite the face painter! We had a couple of sparkly, green shamrocks in no time! We would have tried to have Clara get one however the thought of her staying still long enough..... not likely!

Here is Clara Jo and Sonya as they were waving bye to Kerrigan as she got on the bus one morning we were there! So tender!

Speaking of Kerrigan, she was Clara Jo's buddy the entire time we were there. Clara Jo had Kerrigan's attention 24/7! Now this was great since it allowed us to play games and such! However, little Clara had quite the let down when we got back home and she didn't have someone to play with her all day every day. We have seriously talked about having Kerrigan come live with us! :) We went to Kerrigan's class so she could show and tell her cousin, aunt, uncle, and grandma. As you can see, Clara Jo was quite the hit with the third graders!

We went and checked out my nephew Mitchell from school and we took him out to lunch to Johnny Carinos. It was yummy and a fun little outing! Too bad we had to take him back!

So on Sunday when we got home from church, Kenzie and I decided that we would bond together doing something we both love....reading a good book. It wasn't long until Mitchell and Kerrigan wanted to join in on the bonding activity as well!

What a better way to end a fun trip then with a monumental occasion in one's life. Clara Jo had her first Happy Meal at McDonalds on our drive home. Happy she was! She was introduced to the art of dipping with ketchup! She thought this was pretty great.... I thought it was pretty messy!

As you can tell, we had a great trip! Just what we needed to recharge and be ready to head back to work.
